FANTASTIC NEWS ABOUT THE FUTURE OF CAT REGISTRATION IN DENMARK

Dansk Katteregister and Det Danske Katteregister are merging and will be called Dansk Katteregister.

What does this mean for you as a cat owner?

  • In the new Dansk Katteregister, you as a cat owner will need to verify your profile using MitID. This ensures that your national registry address is always up to date

  • The price for registering your cat in the new Dansk Katteregister is 145 DKK, including VAT. This will apply from February 1, 2025

  • All cats already registered in the current Dansk Katteregister will be transferred to the new register free of charge

  • Address changes and/or ownership transfers will be carried out free of charge for the first 2 years, starting from February 1, 2025. This applies to all cats that are already registered but still need MitID verification

Year code 2024

The year code for marking of cats in 2024 will be "Y" as in yatzy.

Our database

The Danish Cat Register updates new registrants and missing cats daily. Your cat is registered electronically from the first day after you have been to the vet and got the cat earmarked or chipped and the vet has sent the cat's data to the register.  

Protection of personal data

You can be sure never to receive promotional, support or business material from the associations that owns the register based on your registered data in the Danish Cat Register. 

Change of ownership

Request for change of ownership can be submitted digitally by the owner who gives/entrusts the cat to the new owner. Ownership won't be changed before the new owner approves ownership, this way we ensure that both new and former owner confirm the change of ownership.
